Belarus beat Moldova at international football tournament in St Petersburg

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – U18 Belarus Team will compete for the 9th place at the Valentin Granatkin Memorial Tournament in St Petersburg, BelTA has learned.

On 17 January the Belarusians blanked Moldova 4-0 in the repechage. Vladimir Starostin, Ilya Sen, Egor Lapun and Krasimir Kapov scored for Belarus. In the group round Roman Kirenkin's men earned just one point in the game against Latvia (2-2) and lost two other games: 0-1 to India and 0-3 to Russia.

At the start of the second stage Belarus beat Tajikistan in a penalty shootout 7-6.

On 20 January Belarus will face Azerbaijan in its final match for the 9th place in the overall standings.

Greece will take on Kazakhstan and Russia will play St Petersburg in the semifinal matches on 18 January. The winners of the semifinals will compete for the main trophy on 21 January.
