Seminar in Gorki to discuss Union State role in mitigating Chernobyl consequences

MOGILEV, 29 October (BelTA) – A meeting of the permanent seminar at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will take place at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Gorki on 29-30 October, BelTA learnt from the oblast executive committee.

The event will highlight the role of the Union State in mitigating the consequences of the Chernobyl accident. The participants of the seminar will summarize long-term national and Union State experience in the mitigation of the consequences of the catastrophe, look into prospects and priorities in the joint activity on the Union State social development for 2017-2020. The parties are also expected to discuss the issues related to the radiological protection of the population, radioecological education, and the social and economic development of the Chernobyl-hit regions.

Attending the seminar will be MPs of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the Union State Permanent Committee, ministries and agencies of the two countries, scientists and journalists. It is expected that a collection of materials will be published after the seminar. It will include reports, informational and other documents.
