Kochanova: A woman's mission is to prevent conflicts, reconcile nations

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – A woman's mission is to prevent conflicts and to reconcile countries and peoples, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova said at a plenary session “Women: A Global Mission in a New Reality” of the Third Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.

“The delegates of this forum are truly active people who really care about the well-being and prosperity of today's and future generations,” Natalya Kochanova said.

Natalya Kochanova thanked Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko for the idea to arrange the women's forum, which has grown into a global women's movement.

“I am confident that the woman's biggest mission is to ensure there are no conflicts, to reconcile countries and nations, to set everyone on the path towards creation and development. For me, an ideal of a woman is our patroness, St Euphrosyne of Polotsk. Because of her active peacemaking and educational activities, Euphrosyne is revered by Orthodox, Catholics, and Uniates. The modern world needs such women diplomats-peacemakers as never before. With the today's forum, we, too, have contributed to this great mission,” said the speaker.

Natalya Kochanova added: “Together we will be able to resist lies, falsehoods, fake news and protect our young people from detrimental information. We must tell the truth to the world. Our strength is in live human communication. United, women of goodwill can do a lot. Together, no matter where we are or what we do – be it politics, public initiatives, housekeeping - we must stand up for peace, safety, and confidence in the future. The future of humanity depends on us, women. I wish everyone peace, goodness, and health.

The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia and the CIS IPA are holding the third Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg on 13-15 October.
