83.6% of Ukrainians hold a favorable opinion of Belarus

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) - An absolute majority of Ukrainian citizens hold a favorable opinion of Belarus. This is evidenced by the results of the third part of the survey conducted by the independent analytical research center Gorshenin Institute (Kiev) in February 2016, BelTA has learned.

According to the survey, an overwhelming majority of the Ukrainians (83.6%) see Belarus in a positive light. Poland scored the approval rating of 81.1%, Georgia 80.6%, Canada 78.7%, Germany 77.5%, France 75.6%, Turkey 66.8%, the United States 62.8%, China 58.5%, and Russia 28.4%.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has a 43.2% approval rating among the Ukrainians. The Belarusian leader is well ahead of Angela Merkel (33.0%) and Barack Obama (26.6%).

Gorshenin Institute carried out an all-Ukrainian sociological survey "Social and political sentiments of Ukrainians" from 8 to 17 February 2016. Based on the key social and demographic characteristics of the Ukrainian population, the survey covered 2,000 respondents aged 18 and older in all regions of Ukraine.
