Lukashenko phones Putin to extend condolences over Kemerovo tragedy

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – A telephone conversation between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place on 28 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself the head of state expressed sincere condolences and words of support to the Russian leader and the families of the victims and those injured in the fire at the Kemerovo shopping mall. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that people in Belarus are deeply saddened by this terrible loss and the fact that this awful tragedy claimed lives of many children.

Vladimir Putin thanked Alexander Lukashenko for the phone call and support in this difficult time and expressed gratitude for the solidarity demonstrated by Belarus and its citizens during the nationwide day of mourning in Russia. The Russian president also told the Belarusian leader about the circumstances of the tragedy and the course of the investigation.
