Belarusian cosmonaut stunned by Earth’s view from ISS

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Earth looks stunningly beautiful from an illuminator of the International Space Station, BelTA learned from the first cosmonaut of sovereign Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya. The cosmonaut met with young Belarusians at premises of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Marina Vasilevskaya said: “When I first saw our Earth in an observation window, I started crying. The tears didn’t trickle down because they couldn’t. They accumulated in my eyes and I had to wipe them away with tissues. When asked why I was crying, I said I was crying due to happiness. Because it is impossible not to cry after everything one has seen.” She added the planet Earth looks stunningly beautiful from the outer space.

According to Marina Vasilevskaya, it is impossible to describe what one sees either with words or photos or videos. “I realized why kids start dreaming of becoming a cosmonaut,” she said.

The cosmonaut said that time flies very fast at the ISS. The schedule is extremely busy: virtually every minute is occupied starting from 6:00. This is why it would have been wonderful to stay in space for at least another week.
