Lukashenko meets with former president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with former president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma on 22 December, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko and Leonid Kuchma had a warm conversation and exchanged presents. They also pointed out the friendly character of the personal relations and the relations between the two nations. On 27 December 2016 Belarus and Ukraine will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, he is glad to have an opportunity to meet. “It is also always a great honor for me to talk to you. Besides, people must know that life goes on,” Leonid Kuchma said.

“Yes, and that we are friends,” the President of Belarus remarked.

Alexander Lukashenko and Leonid Kuchma also discussed the current state and prospects of the Belarusian-Ukrainian relations, the work at the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine in Minsk.
