MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – Some progress has been achieved in restoring the infrastructure in the conflict zone in Ukraine, BelTA learned from the OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik in Minsk on 20 October.
Martin Sajdik said: “Considerable steps have been taken to restore railway communications and power lines. One can say coal shipments to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government grow day by day. Naturally they are very important for power generation, in particular, during winter. But I have to repeat that it is very important to resolve the mine clearance problem.”
The OSCE representative said that the subgroup on economic affairs is also focused on the problem of restoring water supply. “Today the subgroup continued discussing the matter but then again mine clearance is crucial,” concluded Martin Sajdik.
