Poroshenko receives credentials from new Belarus' Ambassador to Ukraine

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko received the credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol in am official ceremony on 5 October, BelTA learned from the official website of Petro Poroshenko.

The Ukrainian President and the Belarusian diplomat discussed the ways to intensify trade and economic relations, including the cooperation in mechanical engineering, agro-industrial complex, transport and energy sectors. The parties emphasized the importance of the next meeting of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Belarusian mixed commission in Minsk in October 2016.

Special attention was attached to the organization of joint cultural events to celebrate the 345th birthday of Pylyp Orlyk, the author of the first Constitution of Ukraine. Pylyp Orlyk was born on the territory of the modern Minsk Oblast.
