Opinion: Belarus and Ukraine share common history and culture

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Ukraine share common history and culture, Chairperson of the Presidium of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries Nina Ivanova said at a meeting held in the House of Friendship on 22 December to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Ukraine.

According to Nina Ivanova, Belarusian and Ukrainian artworks show a high level of friendship between the two nations. In her words, Belarus and Ukraine enjoy very close and timeless ties.

Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine to Belarus Valery Dzhigun extended greetings to all the present on the occasion of the anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky emphasized as symbolic that the Belarus-Ukraine Friendship Society will soon mark the 25th anniversary as well. He stressed the solidarity of the two countries, which are not only neighbors but also the states that share common culture. The fates of the two nations are closely bound as well.

Belarusian poet and translator Nikolai Metlitsky spoke a lot about long-standing friendship between Belarusians and Ukrainians.

The event was filled with many beautiful Belarusian and Ukrainian poems and songs.
