Minsk agreement on POW exchange roadmap in Ukraine

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The sides have agreed to put together a roadmap for releasing prisoners, BelTA learned from Martin Sajdik, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, on 23 March.

“Unfortunately, no consensus [on POW exchange] has been reached. For the sake of accelerating the release process the sides have agreed to put together kind of a roadmap for releasing and handing over the captured personnel,” said Martin Sajdik.

The OSCE special representative also confirmed that Nadezhda Savchenko's issue was also raised during the talks in Minsk on 23 March. However, he refused to disclose any details.

According to Martin Sajdik, the subgroup on security affairs continued discussing the operation of the joint center for control and coordination (JCCC). In particular, members of the subgroup exchanged opinions about the JCCC's accomplishments and challenges. They agreed that the center's operation contributes to the advancement of the normalization process, but could be more effective.

Martin Sajdik went on saying that the subgroups on security and political affairs had met for a joint session. The session focused on the problem of maintaining security during municipal elections in several areas of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast. Apart from that, the subgroup on political affairs continued discussing amnesty in detail.
