Contact group on Ukraine to reconvene in Minsk on 15 February

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – The next session of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 15 February, BelTA learned from the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on resolving the conflict in Ukraine's east Martin Sajdik on 1 February.

Martin Sajdik said that ways to organize the exchange of prisoners of war were high on the agenda of the meeting on 1 February. “In our opinion, in humanitarian sphere it is important to exchange the lists of names of the people, who are held captive due to the conflict. The lists are being verified by the sides now,” he said.

The introduction of the law on special self-government procedures in several areas of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast was the most important political topic during the negotiations on 1 February.

The subgroup on economic affairs did not meet on 1 February. “There are a number of open issues in economic affairs such as payments for utilities and the payment of overdue salaries and pensions,” added Martin Sajdik.
