Climate improvement in Minsk talks on Ukraine

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – The climate of negotiations about all the humanitarian affairs has improved considerably, BelTA learned from the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik on 9 November.

“I am glad to state that the climate during discussions about all the humanitarian affairs has improved noticeably. This is why I hope for progress in this sphere soon,” said Martin Sajdik.

Further improvement of security conditions, including the full observation of the ceasefire regime, could contribute to that, he added.

According to Martin Sajdik, this time humanitarian affairs were discussed for two days — on 8 and 9 November. In particular, the negotiations touched upon aid for socially vulnerable groups of people. Close attention was paid to improving the operation of checkpoints along the contact line. Opening another checkpoint was considered as well. The acceleration of the process to release the people, who are now held captive due to the conflict, was discussed in detail.
