Belarus ready to provide any negotiation formats to promote Ukraine settlement

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to provide any negotiation formats to promote the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov said in an interview with Prensa Latina, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is ready to further contribute in full to the work of the contact group and provide any other negotiation formats to facilitate the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, including at the highest level, same as we did in Minsk on 11-12 February 2015,” Yevgeny Shestakov said.

The will of the parties is essential to further normalization of the situation. “The implementation of the provisions of the Minsk agreements depends on how soon the conflicting parties establish constructive and peaceful dialogue. If the negotiation process continues, it will be possible to agree on and resolve the most problematic points in the parties' positions and start the restoration of the human and economic ties broken by the conflict,” Yevgeny Shestakov pointed out.

Belarus welcomes the reached agreement between the conflicting parties to continue the negotiation process until full implementation of the Minsk agreements. “We call on the parties to strictly observe the ceasefire, prevent further escalation of the situation, and get down to settling humanitarian issues,” Yevgeny Shestakov stressed.
