MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – Belarus' recognizability in Austria has increased significantly after Minsk hosted the Normandy talks on the settlement in Ukraine and after the Minsk accord was signed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Alena Kupchyna said in an interview to BelTA as Belarus and Austria mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
“Back then the words ‘Belarus' and ‘Minsk' were front-page news in Austria. This has encouraged many Austrians to learn more about our country; the number of tourists from Austria has increased. Almost everyone who traveled to Belarus for business or tourism purposes has had the warmest impressions. Many voice the intention to visit Belarus again. Austrians take note of our beautiful landscapes, clean cities, the sense of safety and security, hospitality and friendliness of Belarusians. In Austria we now see a positive interest in our country, desire to develop and maintain ties with Belarusians. This is exactly what we call public diplomacy,” the diplomat said.
