Not far away from Gomel on the river Sozh archeologists have found remnants of a wooden vessel built in the mid-19th century. According to archeologists, the vessel, nearly 30m long, transported brick from Buda-Koshelevo District to Ukraine. Once the boat went aground it was abandoned.
Waves gradually covered up the vessel with sand, which helped it survive so well to the present day. The boat was found following a heat wave in summer 2015 which caused a considerable fall in the water level.
Pictured is the vessel frame made of oak.
