WNA: Russia successfully transfers nuclear technology to other countries

MOSCOW, 30 May (BelTA) – Russia successfully transfers nuclear technology to other countries, Agneta Rising, Director General of the World Nuclear Association (WNA), said at the opening of the eighth international forum Atomexpo in Moscow on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

“Russia successfully performs transfer of technology and nuclear power plant operation practices to other countries,” Agneta Rising said. She believes this is particularly important in view of the fact that more and more countries are opting for nuclear power.

The WNA Director General is confident that the share of nuclear power in the global energy balance will be growing. More than a thousand new nuclear reactors may be constructed and commissioned by 2050. “This is a very important task as we need to reduce hydrocarbon consumption globally,” Agneta Rising emphasized.

The international forum Atomexpo is running in Moscow from 30 May to 1 June. The main topic of the forum is Nuclear Power as a Basis for Zero Carbon Energy Balance. The program of the event includes an international specialized exhibition and a congress. The exhibition features a stand of the Belarusian nuclear power plant with photo and video materials. The stand provides information about the results of the construction project in 2015 and the tasks for 2016. Atomexpo has been organized by the Russian state corporation Rosatom and is run by Atomexpo.
