PM: Measures for financial recovery of Belarusian farms bring results

GLUBOKOYE, 20 January (BelTA) – Measures taken to rehabilitate agricultural companies in Belarus bring positive results, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told the media during his working trip to Vitebsk Oblast on 20 January, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov visited a number of companies in Glubokoye to take stock of the progress made in the financial recovery of processing and agricultural companies. The PM noted that such trips to regions, meetings with local authorities and heads of companies are mainly needed to assess the results achieved in the implementation of instructions aimed at the financial rehabilitation of farm enterprises. Vitebsk Oblast was one of the first to get under such instructions. It is home to the country's first agricultural holding companies, and the preliminary results can already been drawn.

“The first stage showed that the implementation of certain measures give a positive effect. We earlier discussed the ways to secure the current operation of companies. Today we talk over different things. We discuss how we can use the profits to influence the raw material zone as well as the development of agricultural companies which are struggling. These farm producers get a real prospect of recovering on a sound economic basis,” Andrei Kobyakov said

“We are steadily moving towards macroeconomic stability, with inflation processes slowing down. Interest rates have been gradually reducing. Under these conditions we find ways to improve the financial standing of companies. This will finally lead to a healthy economic growth,” Andrei Kobyakov said.

On 20 January the Belarusian Prime Minister visited the Glubokoye Meat Packing Plant, the Glubokoye Milk Canning Plant and the production and commercial firm Arzhanitsa.
