Market on the rise: Industry minister explains why Belarus needs another tractor plant

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – Belarus Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk explained why Belarus needs a second tractor plant in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel, BelTA has learned.

"Amkodor produces loaders, forestry equipment, and they all have a separating frame. The company moves on to enter a market of an articulated tractor, which complements the range of products that MTZ has today and increases the competitiveness of the Belarusian tractor manufacturing,” the minister stressed and explained that the country will be able to occupy a wider niche on the market.

Vitaly Vovk confirmed that there were warehouse stocks at the MAZ and Gomselmash. "This was because the market was on a decline. Today the market is reviving, and the growth rates of industrial production are gaining momentum every month. The task set by the head of state and the government is to unload the warehouses," he explained.

The industrial production of the first tractor Amkodor is scheduled for January 2018. According to Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amkodor Alexander Shakutin, the tractor will not be a competition to the products of the Minsk Tractor Plant. "We have another concept - a tractor with an articulated frame. We will supplement each other, and this will benefit the economy of the country," said Alexander Shakutin.

The tractor Amkodor will compete with such western manufacturers as John Deere, Challenger, and New Holland. "Our price is better, and we are trying to make the equipment that meets the world quality standards," Alexander Shakutin added.
