MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – In 2015 the inflation in Belarus made up 12%, head of the main prices statistics department at the National Statistics Committee Alexei Yarkovets told a press briefing on 12 January, BelTA has learned.
In 2015, prices for foods went up 11%, prices for non-foods and paid services rose by 11.5% and 15.7% respectively.
“In 2015, we hit the inflation target, however, in the middle of the year the government and the National Bank expected that the inflation in Belarus will reach 16-18% in 2015,” Alexei Yarkovets emphasized.
“If we analyze the dynamics of the index of consumer prices, we will see that at the beginning of 2015 the inflation rate was slightly higher that in 2014. However, the inflation began to slow down in April. At the end of the year, it totaled 12%, while in 2014 it was 16.2%,” the expert said.
