Georgia interested in Belarusian concrete motorway construction practices

TBILISI, 1 September (BelTA) – Georgia is interested in Belarus' experience of building concrete motorways, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Alexander Kruchanov.

Alexander Kruchanov said: “Georgia takes an interest in our experience concerning the construction of motorways, including concrete ones which are designed to last longer than conventional motorways. As a matter of principle, they are ready to see us as partners in building such roads.”

The official stated that Belarus can take part in various tenders in Georgia. “These tenders need a closer look. We should participate in the tenders that suit us. Georgia places considerable orders and volumes. Going all the way to Georgia to build a house would be illogical but design and research institutions could take part in tenders,” said the First Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister.

According to Alexander Kruchanov, Belarus intends to sell more tiles and other ceramic products to Georgia. Apart from that, selling several batches of reinforced concrete products and metal structures is under consideration. Cooperation in glass industry is considered. “Yesterday we had a meeting at a winery. Medium-class wine will be shipped to Belarus where it will be bottled. Our glass factories make all kinds of bottles,” explained the official.

A national expo of Belarus opened in Tbilisi, Georgia on 1 September. The expo will last through 4 September. Products by over 140 companies are on display.
