Call to intensify Belarus-Uzbekistan interregional cooperation

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Belarus invites |Uzbekistan to intensify cooperation at the regional level, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with the parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Nigmatilla Yuldoshev in Minsk on 12 June, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich called for boosting cooperation between regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan. “It does not make sense to deal with all the issues from the capital cities,” he said.

During the meeting Mikhail Myasnikovich touched upon the legal framework of bilateral relations. According to the speaker, the parties should step up efforts to expand it. Currently the work is in progress on 11 draft agreements on cooperation in social affairs, economy, science and tourism.

During the meeting the MPs discussed the prospects for cooperation in trade, economy, investment and industry. Issues of joint production of tractors, agricultural, road-building machinery were also touched upon during the meeting. The parties also talked over the work of BelAZ in the market of Uzbekistan. The company delivered 109 rock haulers to Uzbekistan in 2017, and 35 peices in Q1 2018.
