Brest to host conference on EAEU Customs Code

BREST, 9 August (BelTA) – The international conference “The Eurasian Economic Union: new Customs Code, new opportunities for business” will be held in Brest on 12 September, according to the website of the State Customs Committee.

Experts from different countries will discuss the novel concepts of the EAEU Customs Code and mechanisms of its implementation and will exchange experience. The conference will be attended by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Belarus' State Customs Committee, other ministries and organizations of the country.

Among the main goals of the event is to provide explanation of the new provisions of the EAEU Customs Code and the innovations in the activity of the customs bodies of Belarus and other EAEU member states.

The Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union will replace the Customs Union's Customs Code, which was adopted in 2009. The new document is supposed to lay down the necessary foundation for making the transition to unified customs regulations within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The document envisages transferring some authority to the Eurasian Economic Commission, and easing customs procedures for business. The Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union is expected to come into force on 1 January 2018.
