Belarusian Steel Works' exports up 35% in January-July 2018

GOMEL, 28 August (BelTA) – In January-July 2018 the Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ trademark) increased the export of products by 35% in comparison with the same period a year before, BelTA learned from the company's press service.

In January-July 2018 BMZ exported 1.14 million tonnes of metal products worth more than $724 million. The export growth made up 135% from the same period in 2017 in money terms and 105.5% in volume terms. The profitability of sales reached 9.7%.

In July the Belarusian Steel Works exported 182,000 tonnes of metal products worth over $112 million. The export growth made up 160% from July 2017 in money terms and 140% in volume terms.

In January-July 2018 BMZ sold its products to 62 countries. “The company has significantly expanded the geography of its exports through resuming shipment to the markets where no products were supplied within the last three years and more. This year the plant has resumed its supplies to ten countries, with the total deliveries exceeding $16 million. Supplies to four of them: Portugal, Cameroon, Algeria and Chad were relaunched in July,” the company said.

In January-July 2018 the Belarusian Steel Works produced 1.37 million tonnes of steel, 1.2 million tonnes of rolled products, 87,800 tonnes of seamless pipes and 241,000 tonnes of metal cord, bronzed wire and other wire cable products.
