Belarusian malt producer expanding its presence in Southeast Asia

BREST, 28 April (BelTA) – The open joint stock company Belsolod is expanding its presence in the markets of Southeast Asia, BelTA learned from the company's director general Sergei Gorbatsevich.

“The Belarusian president set a goal to diversify sales markets. We have met this goal. Today we are advancing into new markets such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. We already made first shipments there. We signed a contract for 7,500 tonnes. This is about 10% of all our exports. It took us a year and a half to conclude a contract This is a long period during which we worked 24/7,” Sergei Gorbatsevich said.

Belsolod regularly exports malt to Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Moldova. Trial deliveries have been shipped to Brazil.

In 2016 Belsolod was named the winner of the regional quality excellence award. “This award shows that the Belarusian malt producer is ready to satisfy the needs of Belarusian breweries but also the transnational companies such as Carlsberg, Heineken, Efes,” Sergei Gorbatsevich said.

The open joint stock company Belsolod started out in 1989 as the Ivanovo malt plant. The company is part of the Belgospishcheprom concern. It produces brewing barley malt. Currently, the production capacity stands at 130,000 tonnes per year.
