Belarusian Belshina to make tires for Geely cars

MOGILEV, 23 June (BelTA) – The Bobruisk-based tire maker Belshina will start supplying tires to the Belarusian-Chinese car factory BelGee, Belshina representatives told BelTA.

Belshina has designed three tire models (215/60 R17; 225/65 R17; 225/60 R18) upon technical specifications of the Belarusian-Chinese joint venture BelGee. The three tire models are part of the AstartA tire lineup. Those are radial tubeless tires for cars. They contain metal cord in the breaker and have road-directional tread patterns. The tires are designed for Geely cars and similar cars of foreign make.

All these tires have been successfully tested by the Russian company OOO Vershina. Protocols of the tests were forwarded to a Czech international certification center. The Czech center issued a certificate of compliance with international standards. Now in addition to selling them domestically Belshina can export these tires, including to the European Union.

Belshina representatives noted that the new tires boast a low level of noise and good adhesion to asphalt, including wet asphalt, in addition to a long service life. One model is already batch-produced while the batch production of the other two tire models will begin soon. “We intend to start shipping these tires to BelGee in Q3 2017,” Belshina representatives said.

The Belarusian tire factory was founded in 1972. It was converted into the public joint-stock company (OAO) Belshina in 2002. Belshina is one of Europe's top tire makers. The company offers over 350 standard sizes and models of tires. The company trades with over 75 countries. The main domestic consumers include Belarus' largest enterprises such as BelAZ, MAZ, MTZ, MZKT, Gomselmash, and Amkodor.
