Belarus to study French experience of plugging nuclear power plant into power grid

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarusian energy industry specialists will study the French experience of integrating a nuclear power plant into a national power grid, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Belarus Didier Canesse in Minsk last week. The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between Belarusian and French companies in building the systems to enable the optimal monitoring and control over power grids when the nuclear power plant goes online.

Since efforts to develop the power-generating capacity of the Belarusian energy industry in the near future will be focused on commissioning two reactors of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in addition to effectively integrating them into the national power grid, representatives of the Belarusian Energy Ministry expressed their interest in studying the relevant experience of foreign colleagues.

Top executives of the representative office of Schneider Electric Company in Belarus led by Director Alexander Savanovich and representatives of the Belarusian national electrical company Belenergo led by Director General Yevgeny Voronov also took part in the discussion.
