Belarus, South Korea plan to develop cooperation in agriculture

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) - Belarus and the Republic of Korea shall develop cooperation in the field of agriculture, Sergei Rakhmanov, the Chairman of the Council of the Republic's Standing Commission for International Affairs an National Security, said as he met with a parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Committee of the National Assembly, the head of the friendship group with Belarus Lee Wonwook, BelTA learned.

Sergei Rakhmanov noted that the two countries have long cooperated in the field of IT and digital economy. “Taking into account South Korea's potential, we are also very interested in cooperation in micro-electronics, robotics, biotechnology, chemical technology. In addition, Belarus occupies leading positions in the field of agriculture. I would like to consider the possibilities of interaction in this area,” he said.

For his part, Lee Wonwook noted that for South Korea Belarus is of geopolitical importance. “Belarus is located between Asia and Europe. Thus, we would like to establish friendly relations between the two countries and also to develop complementary and mutually beneficial cooperation in economy,” he added.
