MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus' rail freight volume for the first half of 2017 increased to 68.442 million tonnes, up 14.9% compared to the same period a year prior, BelTA learned from Belarusian Railways.
Rail freight for export reached 25.97 million tonnes, up 7.5% from the same period of 2016. Transit traffic volume amounted to 19.272 million tonnes, which makes up for a 24.5% increase.
In January-June 2017 Belarusian Railways secured the loading of 40.772 million tonnes of cargo (up 5.9%).
Rail freight turnover made up 22.852 billion tariff tonne- kilometers, up 17.2% from the same period a year earlier.
In H1 2017 Belarus' rail passenger traffic made up 38.722 million, including 1.863 million cross-border passengers.
