Belarus plans to start exporting artificial heart valves in 2018

MOGILEV, 15 February (BelTA) – Belarus intends to start exporting artificial heart valves in 2018, Director General of Planar Company Gennady Kovalchuk told the media on 15 February, BelTA has learned.

“We make artificial heart valves and we have supplied the Belarusian market with these products. Now we are working on export opportunities. This will require getting a certificate but the process is underway already. I think that we will start exporting products this year,” Gennady Kovalchuk pointed out.

Today Planar makes only mechanical heart valves. The company is also developing a biological heart valve at the moment. “We do not plan to export mechanical valves to Russia. This market is self-sufficient in this kind of products. We intend to sell artificial heart valves into those CIS countries that do not manufacture them themselves,” the director general specified.

The R&D precision engineering Planar Holding Company is a set of enterprises which develop and manufacture cutting-edge optical, mechanical, control, measurement, and assembly equipment on the basis of the latest scientific and technical achievements in different fields of knowledge. The holding company comprises Planar, KBTEM-OMO, Electronmash Plant, and other companies.
