Belarus plans to ramp up furniture exports to EU

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – Belarus intends to boost furniture exports to the European Union, BelTA learned from the National Centre for Marketing and Price Study of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The international furniture expo Meble Polska 2018 in Poznan drew together subsidiaries of the holding company of woodworking enterprises: Mogilevdrev, Yelsk Furtniture Factory (branch of Mozyr Woodworking Plant), Rechitsadrev, Gomeldrev, and FanDOK. A Belarusian collective stand was co-organized by the National Centre for Marketing and Price Study and the Belarusian Embassy in Poland. Many European companies showed keen interest in Belarus-made products. They paid special attention to solid furniture.

“The expo has shown that such events are a good instrument to promote our furniture in the European Union,” said Mikhail Panishev, a representative of BR-Consult company. In his words, several agreements were signed to supply furniture were signed during Meble Polska expo. The customers are scheduled to come to Belarus soon to learn more about the samples of furniture and the manufacturing capacities of Belarusian companies. Business partners from Denmark, Germany, Hungary, and Poland are expected to visit the country.

“The holding company and the National Center for Marketing and Price Study organized the Belarusian exhibition at a high level. The event saw active business talks. Such cooperation holds great promise, and the holding plans to keep it up,” Mikhail Panishev added.

Belarusian furniture makers are discussing participation in international expos in China and Latvia and in other events to expand overseas.
