Belarus plans to export $6bn worth of food products in 2017

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Belarus plans to export $6 billion worth of food products in 2017, Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy said in an interview to the STV TV channel.

“We should make it $6 billion in food exports,” said Mikhail Rusy. In his words, Belarus exports its fruit and vegetable products well, including to Russia. China is one of the promising markets for Belarusian products, he added. “Over a relatively short period of time we have managed to certify a big number of our dairy and meat producers to China. The first batches have already been shipped. A $20 million agreement on the supply of beef has been signed, with an agreement on poultry exports in the pipeline. The first trial consignments of ice cream have been shipped as well. We initially planned to export $1 million worth of products to the Chinese market. Today the supplies have already reached $17 million,” he said.

The demand for Belarusian flour has been growing this year, the vice premier said. In H1 2017 Belarus exported about 100,000 tonnes of flour, including rye flour.
