Belarus harvests almost 5.4m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped almost 5.4 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 15 August, Belarus' grain harvest approached 5.4 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 1,158.5 tonnes, Minsk Oblast – 1,305.7 tonnes. Gomel Oblast and Grodno Oblast cropped 804,900 and 945,000 tonnes each. The harvest of Mogilev Oblast reached 716,600 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 446,200 tonnes.

A total of 1,492,800 hectares, or 68.7%, of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast remains the leader: the region has cropped 94% of the total area.

This year, the average yield makes up 36 centners per hectare.
