Belarus government eager to expand cooperation with IFC

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – The Belarus government counts on expanding cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the area of financial markets and the real economy sector, the press service of the Council of Ministers of Belarus told BelTA after First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky met with IFC representatives.

Vasily Matyushevsky thanked the International Finance Corporation for its contribution to improving the business environment, to the development of small and medium businesses in Belarus. He said he hopes cooperation in the area of financial markets and the real sector of the economy will continue expanding.

The meeting touched upon the implementation of the IFC's current investment and consulting projects in Belarus and priority avenues of cooperation in the forthcoming medium-term period.

IFC Director for Europe and Central Asia Tomasz Telma, the IFC's new regional head for Ukraine and Belarus Jason Pellmar, and head of the IFC office in Belarus Olga Shcherbina took part in the negotiations.
