Belarus eyes Chinese market for wide range of food products

BEIJING, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus hopes to enter the Chinese market with a proposal of a wide choice of food products, Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told media on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

“34 dairies are currently open for supplies to the Chinese market. Six more meat and one baby food companies are pending decision,” the minister said.

In his words, Belarus exported nearly $15 million worth of food products to China in 2015. “Today with these good relations, agreements and future possible memorandums there is a real opportunity to enter the Chinese market with a wide variety of products. Our products are high quality and popular. The first supplies of Babushkina Krynka and Savushkin Product show that these products are in high demand here,” noted Leonid Zayats.

Belarus was visited by Chinese specialists with a view to certifying the companies for supplies of products. “This year Belarusian companies will be fully certified to enter the Chinese market with both meat and milk. In November we expect to get a permit to export poultry, beef and pork,” the minister added.

“Everything that can be produced in Belarus and that will be in demand in China we are ready to supply to the Chinese market, without infringing the interests of our domestic food market,” Leonid Zayats said. The minister added that the recipe for success in this work is high quality and natural products, cost reduction and orientation of the needs of Chinese consumers.
