IRKUTSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Russia's Irkutsk Oblast is interested in setting up a Belarus-Russia joint venture to produce building materials, Irkutsk Oblast Governor Sergei Levchenko told the media in Irkutsk on 4 October, BelTA has learned.
According to Sergei Levchenko, Belarusian development companies enjoy high reputation for their professional excellence. However, for them to gain a foothold in Irkutsk Oblast they need to produce building materials locally. It does not make economic sense to bring them from Belarus. “We would like to encourage Belarus to produce certain types of building materials in Irkutsk Oblast,” Sergei Levchenko said.
The governor met with journalists at the media tour “The Belarusian diaspora of Baikal region: Role, activities, uniqueness”. The media tour was organized by the Standing Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Belarus' National Press Center and the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.
