Belarus, China sign agreements on technical, economic aid projects

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – The governments of Belarus and China have signed agreements on implementing technical and economic aid projects, representatives of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA.

Bilateral relations and versatile cooperation between Belarus and China in the sphere of technical and economic aid have been advancing well this year. The Belarusian government and the Chinese government signed two agreements on 10 October by exchanging letters.

The agreements stem from the arrangements made during the top-level meetings in the city of Qingdao in June 2018 and envisage technical and economic aid for the sake of building a national football stadium and a swimming pool compliant with international standards.

The news that China will help Belarus build the sport facilities was released in July 2017. Back then after meeting with a delegation of the Chinese Commerce Ministry the Belarusian economy minister told media that the sides had signed agreements on starting the financial justification for these projects. Plans were made to allocate about $180 million for these projects.

A Belarus president decree on preparing the land plots for building the stadium and the swimming pool was signed in June 2018. As part of the project unwanted real estate will be demolished, engineering networks and structures will be reconstructed in the area of Vaneyeva Street and Kalvariyskaya Street in Minsk in 2018-2019.
