Adjustments of U.S. dollar exchange rate in Belarus budget possible

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – The exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble against the U.S. dollar, which is stipulated by this year's state budget, may be adjusted, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Kiyko on 25 May.

“The Finance Ministry does not set these figures. The Economy Ministry does. There is no doubt that we will adjust the exchange rate for the estimated parameters connected with foreign currencies as part of the budget revision,” said the official.

The Finance Ministry representative did not specify the figures. “But we are going to aim for the figures close to the current exchange rate,” he said. Dmitry Kiyko said he believes that the U.S. dollar exchange rate may vary in the Br19,000-21,000 range till the end of the year.

Apart from that, the Deputy Finance Minister answered questions about the expected revenue from oil export duties and possible adjustments of the oil price per barrel in the state budget for 2016. “Our target value stays at $50 per barrel this year. With this in mind, revenues from oil export duties will not be revised until this basic parameter is re-evaluated,” said the official.

Dmitry Kiyko reminded that in the past the state budget was supposed to get about $1 billion from oil export duties, provided the oil price was close to $50 per barrel. However, results will depend on the market situation.
