More tourists cross Belarusian-Polish border in Augustow Canal area

The seasonal border checkpoint Lesnaya-Rudawka was opened from May till 1 October 2018. Over 3,000 people crossed the border via the checkpoint, 18% up from the year before. As many as 43% of them were riding a bicycle while another 12% were travelling by motorboat, by boat, and by canoe.

Belarusian disease diagnostics startup shortlisted for international award

The Deep Dee startup relies on medical equipment and artificial intelligence. The team is busy creating a way to diagnose diseases early using fundus images. The algorithms can already diagnose diabetes. The team intends to learn to “see” other diseases, too.

The bill suggests allowing foreigners to travel in transit via the border zone to sanatoriums and resorts and use motorway service outlets in the border zone without border passes. The move is expected to bolster the tourism appeal of the facilities located in the border zone.

In the individual all-around the Belarusian scored 75,200 points, losing to Russian Ekaterina Selezneva (77,950). The bronze went to another Russian athlete Marina Sergeeva (73,500).
