MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – Siarhei Viazovich's crew of MAZ-SPORTauto Team won the third stage of Dakar Rally 2021, BelTA has learned.
The winner clocked 3:35.14 to complete the special part of 403km. Dmitry Sotnikov of KAMAZ-Master was second, 18 seconds back. KAMAZ-Master's Anton Shibalov rounded out the top three, 1.16 behind the winner.
Second Belarusian crew under Aliaksei Vishneuski finished 6th, 3.57 back..
Dmitry Sotnikov holds a lead of 16.56 over Siarhei Viazovich, second, and 23.01 over Russia's Anton Shibalov, third, in the overall classification. Aliaksei Vishneuski goes 10th (1:30.04 back).
The Dakar 2021 events are held every day for 14 days, except for one day off (9 January). According to the organizers, the routes have been reconfigured by 80% compared to last year's edition.
