MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) - The Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo will be as safe as possible, Yoshiro Mori, the head of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, assured representatives of national Olympic committee during a webinar on 12 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
"Preparations for the Olympics are on schedule. The Tokyo Olympic organizing committee will make every effort to make the event as safe as possible. Tokyo will show an example how to organize sporting events in a post-coronavirus world,” he said. The Japanese side also plans to reduce the cost of hosting the Games.
IOC President Thomas Bach stressed that significant measures are being taken to protect the health of all participants of the Olympics, and the Games in Tokyo will be an example for the next big events.
On behalf of Belarus, the webinar was attended by NOC Secretary General Polina Golovina and representatives of the NOC international department.
The Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo are scheduled to take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021. The Games will feature 339 medal events in 33 sports.
