TOKYO, 27 July (BelTA) – Aliaksandr Radzionau of Belarus lost his men's welter round of 16 bout to Pat McCormack of the UK at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, BelTA has learned.
The more experienced opponent outclassed the Belarusian athlete in the course of the fight and won by unanimous decision of the judges. Thus, Aliaksandr Radzionau became the second Belarusian boxer to leave the Olympic tournament. Earlier, Vitali Bandarenka (75kg) had dropped out of the competition.
“The fight is lost, and now I need to think it over, look into the mistakes. I did not fully comply with the instructions of the coach, that is why I lost,” said the Belarusian athlete.
This was Aliaksandr Radzionau's second fight at the Olympic tournament. He won his first bout against Necat Ekinci of Turkey.
