MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Russia's Veronika Kudermetova lost to Sorana Cirstea of Romania and Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil 2-6, 2-6 in the Australian Open doubles opener, BelTA has learned.
Earlier, the Belarusian went out of the Australian Open women's singles event losing to world number 17 Ashleigh Barty of Australia 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 4-6 in the opener.
Lidia Morozova of Belarus and Lesley Kerkhove of the Netherlands saw off Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine and Makoto Ninomiya of Japan 7-6, 6-2 in the opener.
