MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 11 Aryna Sabalenka took on Great Britain's Katie Boulter (WTA No.99) in the Australian Open second round on 16 January. The 20-year-old Belarusian prevailed in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will now face Amanda Anisimova of the United States in the third round.
Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich, world number 31, eliminated Estonia's world number 20 Anett Kontaveit to reach the Australian Open third round.
The Belarusian-Japanese duo Lidziya Marozava /Shuko Aoyama ousted the German/USA doubles tandem Anna-Lena Groenefeld/Vania King 6:4, 6:3 in the first-round women's doubles.
