Russia beat Belarus at Davis Cup playoff tie

MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – In the final rubber Egor Gerasimov of Belarus lost to Daniil Medvedev of Russia 6-7, 6-3, 3-6 in the Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I playoff, BelTA has learned.

Ahead of the fifth rubber at Luzhniki Arena the teams were tied at 2-2. Belarus clinched victories through Ilya Ivashko and Max Mirnyi paired with Andrei Vasilevsky.

Russia remains in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I. Belarus will face Slovakia in October 2018 in a bid to stay in the group.
