MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – HC Minsk Yunost posted a commentary regarding the CHL Board's decision to cancel its place in the Champions Hockey League season 2021/22, BelTA has learned.
“HC Minsk Yunost provided all the guarantees requested by the Champions Hockey League in a timely manner. So the decision of the CHL Board to cancel our place was quite unexpected. The club posted its all-time best performance in the Champions Hockey League last season. So we were excited by the opportunity to build on our achievements. Unfortunately, sports have mixed with politics today, and the pressure on sports and commercial brands has grown many times. Not everyone is able to resist this pressure. Instead of finding the best ways to solve the difficulties the Champions Hockey League decided to succumb to external pressure and to deprive our club of its deserved right to represent the Belarusian hockey on the international arena,” reads the commentary posted on the club's official website.
