Gold medal ceremony for Belarus' biathlon team in PyeongChang

PYEONGCHANG, 23 February (BelTA) – Belarusian biathletes Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Dinara Alimbekova and Darya Domracheva were awarded gold medals for winning the Women's 4х6km Relay at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang on 23 February, BelTA has learned.

The award ceremony was held by representative of the International Olympic Committee Sergey Bubka of Ukraine and representative of the International Biathlon Union Nami Kim of South Korea.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian national biathlon team Nadezhda Skardino said that the emotions were through the roof after the race. “Back in the Olympic village we received a lot of congratulations. We saw tears of joy in the eyes of our loved ones and friends. It was gradually dawning on us that we actually performed a little miracle in the relay,” Nadezhda Skardino said.

According to the biathlete, they will continue training in PyeongChang. “We still have the IBU World Cup competitions ahead. So, we will continue working. We need to keep up the good shape,” the athlete said.

On 22 February the Belarusian quartet of biathletes took a historic victory in the women's relay, leaving behind the teams of Sweden and France. The gold in the women's relay is the second for Belarus at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang. Earlier, Anna Guskova claimed the champion title in the Ladies' Aerials.
