Dinamo Minsk edge Ak Bars 3-2

MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk beat three-time Gagarin Cup holder Ak Bars Kazan 3-2 in the KHL action on 24 December, BelTA has learned.

Two unanswered goals created a comfortable cushion for the Bisons in the opening period. Aleksei Tereshchenko opened the scoring after 67 seconds. Sergei Kostitsyn produced a power play goal for 2-0 on the scoreboard.

The second frame went goalless. At the start of the third, Jiri Sekac got the visitor back in contention. The home team found a quick response thanks to Dmitry Buinitsky. There was still time for Rob Klinkhammer to send home a power play goal against his former club and set up a tense finale. Dinamo stood strong to make it three wins in a row and keep alive its hopes for playoff contention.

The Bisons will be back in action on 26 December as they play against Traktor. Then, they will face Avtomobilist on 28 December and Lokomotiv on 30 December.
