Craig Woodcroft appointed head coach of HC Dinamo Minsk

MNSK, 28 April (BelTA) - Craig Woodcroft has been appointed head coach of HC Dinamo Minsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk hockey club.

The Canadian specialist took over from Belarusian coach Andrei Kovalev.

During his playing career, Craig Woodcroft represented Team Canada internationally and spent nine years playing in Europe. He started his coaching career as head coach of Adler Mannheim, a member of the German elite league.

Craig Woodcroft also assisted Dave Lewis in the Belarus national team which advanced to the quarterfinals of the IIHF world championship.

At the moment Craig Woodcroft is in Minsk and will travel together with the national team to Moscow and St. Petersburg for the IIHF World Championship.

With regard to the new assistants, the head coach will meet soon with all the specialists who worked on the former coaching staff to discuss the cooperation and decide who will stay for the next season.
