Christmas ice hockey forum kicks off in Minsk

MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – The National Olympic Committee is now hosting the Christmas ice hockey forum to discuss ways to promote ice hockey, BelTA has learned.

Experts from various countries will share their expertise and knowledge about various aspects of ice hockey promotion. During the morning session Renate Bachmann, Christian Schuster and other experts from Switzerland spoke about development of children's and junior hockey in their country. Switzerland is known for nurturing successful hockey players. For example, the junior team of this country defeated the Swedish team to proceed to the semifinals of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in Canada.

Experts from Germany will speak about the successful performance of their national ice hockey team at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang where Germany landed second.

The experts will discuss the role of marketing in ice hockey promotion and athletes' performance in the long-term perspective. Speaking at the forum will be Belarusian coaches Vladimir Safonov and Dmitry Zhuravsky.

Many of the experts are also taking part in the 15th Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament that is taking place at the Chizhovka Arena sports complex in Minsk.
